Teachers are the biggest influence on a person's life, behind only parents and friends. Teachers are also the most important factor contributing to a student's academic achievement; more important than curricula, class size, facilities, and funding. Teachers are critically important but they aren't always there and the person filling in for them, the substitute teacher, becomes equally important.

Substitutes Matter

Teacher absences have a negative impact on student achievement. Substitute teachers often are asked to keep students busy and to prevent any major catastrophe from happening but accomplish very little in instruction and learning. In the end, the success of the substitute teacher directly impacts the long-term success of student. Our children's futures rise and fall on the ability of a substitute teacher to create a meaningful learning environment during their time in the classroom.

The Foundry is uniquely different in that we are not attempting to staff schools with substitutes that approach the problem as it has always been done. We acknowledge the importance of the substitute teacher on the long-term success of the student and are committed to raising the bar for substitute teachers. We staff schools with substitutes that are highly motivated, trained and equipped with curriculum that offers students a real learning environment. Students learn soft skills and entrepreneurship from well prepared substitutes. The substitutes are not be reactionary…they're proactive, inspirational, and able to deliver an impactful learning experience.

Our Substitute Teachers Rock

The Foundry is committed to recruiting the brightest and most motivated candidates. We offer the highest quality pool of talent available in the substitute teacher profession. Our substitute teachers:

Complete the best-in-class substitute training program and earn their STEDI SubDiploma prior to entering the classroom.
Participate in an apprenticeship program with an experienced substitute teacher prior to leading a classroom.
Continue to receive training and complete no less than 3 hours of training each month on topics including classroom management, teaching strategies, content mastery, and more.
