High-Quality Programming
The general and most basic goal of all after-school programs is to provide quality supervision to children immediately after-school and while their parents are at work. Childcare during this gap between work and school schedules is necessary to working parents and their employers. Programming during this time also provides children a safe place during hours when children are most at risk of negative behaviors and activities. These are the most basic needs that must be addressed by any after-school program and simply
meeting these basic needs is not enough. A high-quality after-school program has the potential to be one of the best experiences in a child’s life. It meets the most basic of needs and focuses on much more including promoting academic success, social and emotional development, and skill building. The Foundry's high-quality programs include tutoring and mentoring, homework help, academic enrichment, community service and engagement opportunities, and exposes students to a mix of music, arts, sports, and cultural activities. |

The Foundry has well established relationships in Roanoke City Public Schools (RCPS). We have worked with RCPS on a number of projects over the years. The Foundry also has a well-developed network of community partners. We are active community advocates and have worked side-by-side with businesses, nonprofits, and governments.
